Make no mistake Vogue Arabia is one of the more superior editions of Vogue available today. After all, Manuel Arnaut, who has served as editor-in-chief since 2017, has become a total asset to the magazine. Covers throughout 2024 starring the likes of Rania Benchegra, Winnie Harlow, and Claudia Schiffer have commanded our attention here at theFashionSpot to no end. To commemorate the sixth annual Fashion Trust Arabia (an event celebrating talent across the MENA region), Arnaut enlists Imaan Hammam for a special digital cover of Vogue Arabia for November 2024. The Moroccan-Egyptian model poses for Moroccan photographer Mous Lamrabat for the occasion, showcasing a sculptural white ensemble from Doha-based designer Yasmin Mansour (winner of the 2024 Evening Wear category) in the cover photograph.

“Congratulations to Vogue Arabia for their Guinness World Record of being the first publication to make Imaan look like that,” scolded ReneSanchez at once.

“Imaan Hammam deserves print covers only,” forum member Cute declared.

“I had never seen a bad photograph of her until now,” chimed in A.D.C.

Fauxfashion also questioned: “How could they have managed to make Imaan look bad? #NoWords!”

“Beyond amateurish,” exclaimed Vitamine W.

“Seen better, and also seen far worse. In all honesty, I don’t mind the sight of this. The lighting is somewhat questionable but I like the background and the white Yasmin Mansour look. Not to mention how I am ALL for seeing Imaan Hammam,” approved vogue28.

In the eyes of ALL of us here at theFashionSpot, supermodels will always and forever a good idea. Whether it’s Linda Evangelista wonderfully reuniting with Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia or Naomi Campbell cropping up on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar – we will always approve. Therefore, you can imagine our absolute delight to see Claudia Schiffer turn up as Vogue Arabia’s September 2024 cover star. Manuel Arnaut shares our love for supermodels, having welcomed the likes of Cindy Crawford and Iman onto the Arabian fashion title in the past. This month, across a trio of collectable covers, Claudia takes to Kayt Jones’ photographic duo and is styled by Barbara Baumel in an array of tailored looks from Karl Lagerfeld, Nina Ricci and Sportmax.

“Wasted potential. The fonts are enormously awful and distracting,” immediately critiqued lanvinray.

“They are okay. Just a bit weird with the positioning. I prefer the first cover,” shared oaklee91.

“Love the second cover, the first one does not say ‘cover’ to me,” Bertrando3 pointed out.

Kokobombon commented: “I actually prefer third cover over the others. The styling and posing works but none are great!”

“These covers… amateur hour! Poor Claudia,” sighed forum member thenewclassic.

WAVES wasn’t best impressed either. “I find all covers underwhelming, considering Vogue Arabia’s glamorous take on most of their cover subject. This kinda falls a wee flat,” they disapproved.

“It’s all just very stiff, which is such a shame because I love me some Claudia Schiffer and enjoy Vogue Arabia on the regular. I’m putting the blame on Kayt Jones, whose photography is just feels very flat and amateur. For me, the second cover with the Nina Ricci is the strongest,” voiced vogue28.

Fact: Vogue Arabia has been one of the most solid and most successful editions of Vogue to be launched in recent times. The magazine meant business from the second it hit newsstands, with Gigi Hadid as their very first cover girl. Over recent years, Manuel Arnaut has helped the magazine sore to new heights. Arnaut regularly shatters stereotypes via Vogue Arabia’s front covers and we’ve found ourselves elated with covers starring the likes of Rania Benchegra, Penélope Cruz, Precious Lee and Kim Kardashian.

The March 2024 issues bares witness to the magazine commemorate its 7-year anniversary and celebrates the occasion with 7 covers featuring “iconic women from around the globe”. Those women include Somali-American model Halima Aden (photographed by Nima Benati), Palestinian singer Elyanna (by Greg Swales), Saudi author and diversity advocate Abrar Alothman (by Amer Mohamed), Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, Italian icon Monica Bellucci, Lebanese actress Nadine Nassib Njeim and Canadian model Winnie Harlow (each captured by Nima Benati).

“Only 7 years? It feels like it’s been around for longer,” voiced blueorchid.

“They stole the RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 promo concept,” pointed out GERGIN.

“The first cover is cute. The rest… not so much. Why do we need SEVEN different covers? I highly doubt anybody’s like, ‘Oh, let me go buy all 7 Vogue Arabia covers to add to my collection!'” ranted Scotty.

Vogue28 voiced: “Admittedly, not the most exciting of Vogue Arabia covers. I do love the concept with the covers starring Monica Bellucci, Nadine Nassib Njeim, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Winnie Harlow. I just wish all of the covers shared this concept which would’ve helped everything feel more coherent.”

“Trying to hard to be cool,” commented an underwhelmed oaklee91.

Here at theFashionSpot, we’ve been huge champions of all-things Vogue Arabia ever since the magazine made its big splash on newsstands back in 2017- and you may not even need reminding of the launch covers starring Gigi Hadid. Almost a whole 7 years later and under the editorship of Manuel Arnaut, the Arabian fashion title continues to go from strength to strength. For January 2024, Arnaut welcomes Rania Benchegra onto a pair of covers. The Moroccan beauty who was first discovered during 2023’s Vogue Open Casting poses for photographer Txema Yeste and across the two covers styled by Arabian Vogue‘s fashion director Amine Jreissati, gazes down Yeste’s lens wearing looks from Fendi and Hermès.

From the get-go when the first cover (above) came to light, members of our forums were left in awe. “I like the cover, Txema almost never disappoints…” noted DK92.

“I love it! That stare,” pointed out kokobombon, sharing the same level of enthusiasm toward the cover.

“Beautiful close up,” WAVES admired.

Psylocke was also very much an admirer of Vogue Arabia’s latest, adding: “Ohhh, these are both great. Refreshingly glamorous and just really gorgeous. We need more Txema!”

“In love with the covers and her face. So edgy yet romantic,” described oaklee91.

“Absolutely love that portrait of Rana Benchegra in the first cover! It’s just a crying shame someone at Vogue Arabia decided to add the black frame, which downgrades the cover somewhat for me. Nevertheless, a very strong start to 2024 for Arabian Vogue – two very strong and commanding covers,” voiced vogue28.

Vogue Arabia April 2022 : Ugbad Abdi & Hani Abdi by Luigi & Iango

We’ve been huge advocates of Vogue Arabia ever since its inaugural issue back in 2017. After all, covers with Imaan Hammam, Halima Aden, Jourdan Dunn, Kim Kardashian, Precious Lee and Penélope Cruz have really wowed. The title’s offering for April 2022 is certainly no different with three terrific covers featuring Ugbad and Hani Abdi for us to fawn over. In celebration of Ramadan, the sisters pose before the lens of photographic duo Luigi & Iango both serving unapologetic fashion and showstopping glamour.

What more could we possibly ask for? “Well, I absolutely LOVE this. The yellow fabric knotted/wrapped like a massive blond hair bun is amusing and beautiful and genius. Ugbad looks great. The whole thing is so glamorous. Favorite April cover, I think,” raved KINGofVERSAILLES.

“I LOVE it! Especially the dramatic accessories,” approved kokobombon.

“That first cover is stunning,” declared WAVES.

“Darling, the glamour!! How absolutely sublime! Spectacular styling, Ugbad looks stunning, it all works so well on that first cover. The other two are lovely, but I don’t like the amount of gray of Hani’s cover and the border on the last one. The first cover is simply unmatched!” exclaimed aracic.

“The first cover is certainly unmatched. Ugbad looks sensational, regal, sophisticated, expensive…the list goes on! Dread to think what I’d do without Luigi & Iango,” vogue28 chimed in.

FashionMuseDior couldn’t agree more: “Absolutely stunning and very interesting to look at. Love it.”

“All three covers are gorgeous,” voiced VogueGirl8910.

Vogue Arabia November 2021 : Penélope Cruz by Luigi & Iango

Since its inception back in 2017, make no mistake Vogue Arabia has cemented itself as one of the best. It made our jaws drop with a plethora of stellar covers featuring Imaan Hammam, Halima Aden, Jourdan Dunn, Kim Kardashian, Lily Collins and most recently Precious Lee. The title’s latest offering stuns all the same as firm forum favorite Penélope Cruz makes her debut as an Arabian Vogue cover star photographed by the equally adored Luigi & Iango. A match made in heaven (as we’ve come to expect), the photographic duo captured the Spanish beauty in dramatic black and white resulting in a trio of bold, dynamic and utterly stunning covers. As a Chanel brand ambassador, Penélope wears looks from the French fashion house’s Cruise 2022 collection (on covers one and three) as well as haute couture by Saudi Arabian designer Ashi Studio (on cover two).

“Glad to see Luigi & Iango, can’t go wrong with that duo. And of course the fabulous Penélope only makes it better! Stunning,” proclaimed aracic.

“Penélope Cruz on a Vogue cover is always welcome,” said JPineapple.

“I much prefer the second cover. Penélope looks fantastic!” exclaimed KINGofVERSAILLES.

Vogue Arabia July/August 2021 : Precious Lee by Paola Kudacki

Arabia hasn’t taken our fancy for quite some time. The last time involved a stunning pair of Lily Collins covers. Eight months later and we’re once again stunned thanks to modeling sensation Precious Lee. Precious is definitely having a moment within the world of fashion and we’re completely here for it. The American beauty and firm forum favorite has graced the covers of British Vogue, Vogue Brazil, American Harper’s Bazaar and i-D. Now the supermodel adds Vogue Arabia to her list of ever-growing achievements this year. Photographed by Paola Kudacki and styled by Patrick Mackie, Precious oozes star quality in the two dynamic cover images for the Arabian fashion bible’s July/August 2021 issue.

Vogue Arabia November 2020 : Lily Collins by Thomas Whiteside

Manuel Arnaut is definitely doing fantastic things with Vogue Arabia. The magazine picked Kourtney Kardashian along with Farida Khelfa as cover stars. It also gave its September cover to a young girl affected by the devastating explosion in Beirut. Now Lily Collins makes her first Vogue cover appearance on the mag’s November 2020 issue captured by Thomas Whiteside. For cover one (below), Lily serves face wearing a latex Saint Laurent number, while on cover two (after the jump) the star of Netflix’s Emily in Paris sports a showstopping Schiaparelli creation.

One cover clearly stood out. “Odd choice for Vogue Arabia for a cover star, kind of an average shoot, pretty boring as far as first impressions go,” voiced SLFC.

“Really random… I guess they really like Emily in Paris in the Middle East? Also her arm behind the masthead is strange,” added BlueRuin.

“The second cover is stunning and glamorous, while the first one leaves much to be desired,” noted MON.

“The second cover is divine!” agreed cottonmouth13.

“First cover is meh, but that second cover is gorgeous!” echoed bluestar.

“Immediately I was a fan of the first cover — loved the simplicity of it all, the straightforward photography from Thomas Whiteside and how polished the overall look is. The lighting is extremely flattering and Lily looks flawless! However, it’s the second cover which completely seals the deal for me — just pure perfection,” vogue28 pointed out.

Vogue Arabia July/August 2020 : Kourtney Kardashian by Arved Colvin-Smith

You’ll often hear us ranting about magazines recycling the same old cover stars. Manuel Arnaut, however, has a knack for thinking outside the box when it comes to Vogue Arabia. From giving Nicki Minaj her first Vogue cover to uniting modeling icons Iman and Imaan Hammam, we’re constantly impressed. Now Kourtney Kardashian makes a surprise appearance on the magazine’s July/August 2020 edition snapped by Arved Colvin-Smith. The American reality TV star and founder of Poosh follows in the footsteps of sister Kim Kardashian by posing for a pair of covers that are giving us all sorts of Andy Warhol vibes.

But what did our forum members think of the covers? “Actually, not that bad,” confessed mikel upon first look.

“I like this Warhol-esque vibe, it suits the whole Kardashian narrative. Maybe not for a Vogue cover, but they are quite nice,” complimented SRank.

“I immediately thought of Andy Warhol too, in particular his portrait of Princess Caroline of Monaco, when looking at these. The coloring and lighting are very similar, especially in the second cover (which I much prefer over the first). Nothing groundbreaking or particularly eye-catching (unlike sister Kim’s Arabian Vogue covers by Txema Yeste), but inoffensive nevertheless,” voiced vogue28.

“Second cover is the best by far,” echoed jorgepalomo.

RMDV simply wasn’t buying it: “I’m sorry but this is just terrible…looks like a horrible outtake from Kourtney’s camera roll… So sick of seeing this family with all of their money on covers that look like they cost $400 max to produce.”

“May not be the best-looking cover, but I’ll take her over any other Kardashian/Jenner,” wrote slayage.

Fashion glossies are getting creative now that social distancing is the new norm and conventional photoshoots are no longer feasible. Ever since its inaugural issue back in 2017, Vogue Arabia has been breaking boundaries, like making Halima Aden the first hijab-wearing Vogue cover star or making bold political statements. For May 2020, the title asked Imaan Hammam, Constance Jablonski, Nora Attal and Eva Herzigova to photograph themselves during quarantine. The models actually put a lot of established photographers to shame with their images for the magazine’s latest installment.

Members of our forums were pleasantly surprised. “This is how you do a stay-at-home photoshoot! It looks professional and beautiful, it’s not another lazy, boring selfie in pajamas. Excellent work. Other magazines should take notice…” applauded aracic.

“Interesting how models can shoot and produce their own covers and make it look better than what we’ve seen from actual photographers. Imaan looks royal. Although I’m not sure they’re cover-worthy, they’re still a lot better than these annoying FaceTime photoshoots we’ve been seeing!” said Valentine27.

GivenchyAddict shared the same enthusiasm: “Imaan is absolutely fabulous. She did better than some photographers with or without the COVID-19 situation.”

“I really enjoy the simplicity of Nora’s cover, she looks gorgeous. Imaan’s cover is the best out of the four. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s all her doing. AMAZING,” LustforFashion agreed.

“Now this is how you do a stay-at-home issue, still has to be fashion. Don’t show us people bathing their kittens or gardening in their pajamas. All four covers are stunning, well done Vogue Arabia. Fashion photographers better watch out!” exclaimed Urban Stylin.
