You’re no doubt completely and fully aware that Anthony Vaccarello likes himself some Juergen Teller as Saint Laurent campaign photographer. Vaccarello has called upon the famed German photographer to lens the historic French fashion house’s campaign imagery on umpteen occasions throughout his tenure as creative director. More recently, Teller photographed Chloë Sevigny for the Fall 2024 campaign offering. For the Saint Laurent Winter 2024 installment, Juergen Teller is back to capture a handful of Vaccarello’s muses. Those muses include Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling, Ajus Samuel, Anja Rubik, Binx Walton, Awar Odhiang, and Penelope Ternes. The ladies pose within the surroundings of a stylish Art Deco Parisian brasserie in looks from Vaccarello’s chic Saint Laurent collection unveiled in February during Paris Fashion Week.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“So good! I just can’t get enough of Saint Laurent campaigns,” shared fruitbasedsnack.

“Binx! I would have been fine with just Charlotte Rampling and Kate Moss. I don’t mind the other women though. Good campaign, very Louis Vuitton with Madonna by Meisel in the spirit,” Lola701 noted.

“Charlotte, Kate, Anja and Awar were enough for me. Charlotte is definitely the star,” commented GivenchyAddict.

Also in love with the casting was audace: “Kate, Anja and Charlotte Rampling? This casting is perfect!”

Yet not everyone was impressed. “No soul. Aseptic. Lifeless. Empty. Some pictures are just pretty, but there’s nothing behind them. No warmth, no feelings, no passion, no nothing. I don’t know why that is. There’s no soul at all,” Creative critiqued.

“Depressing, and not in a cool way,” chimed in 90sFan.

Tonight, on the evening of day two of Paris Fashion Week, Anthony Vaccarello unveiled his Saint Laurent Spring 2025 collection. Guests and friends of the Kering-owned luxury fashion house (including everyone from Kate Moss to Zoë Kravitz) gathered within the courtyard of the Saint Laurent HQ on Rue de Bellechasse. Echoing the mood of the Fall 2024 menswear collection, Vaccarello’s latest was a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent himself. Under a dramatic golden roof, an army of models (including Bella Hadid staging a not-so-surprising runway comeback) stormed the oval-shaped runway decked out in an array of oversized suits, trench coats, and bomber jackets. Elsewhere throughout the collection, Vaccarello explored the late designer’s eye for texture, color, and his love of bohemian blouses and mini skirts.

Saint Laurent Spring 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Repetitive silhouettes aside, I really love this collection.” [LadyJunon]

“Well, I’m sold. Definitely repetitive, but I love it when fashion looks expensive. He still manages to project a Saint Laurent fantasy, which I appreciate.” [thiago]

“Despite the literal translation in a lot of looks from the menswear collection, I loved it – until Vaccarello started messing it up with those UGLY skirts. The leather coats are glorious.” [Ihhbl]

“Wow, at last Anthony Vaccarello expands his vocabulary. I did not believe he could do it. I think it’s the best collection of his tenure.” [yslforever]

“I can always count on AV to put on a good show. Obsessed with the jacquard in the middle section.” [IsabelMarantBoy]

“I think it’s a great direction. It makes good use of the YSL codes and there’s a sense of camp fun to it that’s basically non-existent in fashion anymore.” [GoldenPetals]

“Those shiny jackets at the end might be all over next year! The last section was just delicious. Fabulous use of color.” [tourbillions]

It has become somewhat of a tradition for us here at theFashionSpot to throw it back a whole decade, on the eve of each fashion week. You’ve encountered our New York, London and Milan installments and now it’s time to head back to the Spring 2015 season of Paris Fashion Week.

Sarah Burton was the creative force behind Alexander McQueen in the September of 2014, offering up a collection based on her very own treasured collection of antique kimonos and intricate fabric swatches. Cropped jackets and asymmetrical mini skirts had a rock ‘n’ roll sensibility at Anthony Vaccarello’s showcase and a sporty vibe oozed from Alexander Wang’s monochromatic Balenciaga collection. Riccardo Tisci sent out a gang of his model muses decked out into corsets, leather pants and thigh-high boots at Givenchy. Simon Porte Jacquemus transformed his runway into a beach scene, complete with parasols, deck chairs and the sound of waves crashing for his Spring 2015 nautical-inspired collection. Hedi Slimane continued to display his love for all-things glam rock at Saint Laurent while the late Karl Lagerfeld staged a protest at the Chanel show, complete with models (like Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bundchen) shouting through megaphones.

Think again if you thought Nicolas Ghesquière closed out the Paris Fashion Week calendar with his Louis Vuitton showcase. Anthony Vaccarello said not on his watch, staging a not-so-secret Saint Laurent show for the French fashion house’s Fall 2024 menswear collection, which was only announced to the fashion press just two days prior to showtime. Staged within the French capital’s historic Bourse de Commerce, a dead ringer to Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent himself soon emerged on the circular runway, dressed in Vaccarello’s take on power dressing. The silhouettes to follow around the perimeter of the plush show space were strong, louche and double-breasted, with wide-shouldered tailoring, trench coats and variously colored ties recalling the distinctive office attire of the 1980s.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Kind of depressing.” [matheus_s]

“Very depressing…” [yslforever]

“Cute pieces here and there but why insist on poor suiting? They need to get a serious menswear designer.” [Kimihiro]

“This was… off and repetitive. The proportions were unsettling. Overall, very dreary.” [mteb123]

“This is a really off putting men’s collection. I don’t know why, but I find it rather repulsive.” [Cocteau Stone]

“It reminds me of politicians. 90s politicians wearing outdated 80s suits.” [Machinegumm]

“That’s a lot of sloppy suits for one collection, that being said. I wish to never see a man wearing one of those suits IRL. It’s all quite terrible and not even the slick presentation could save that. I don’t think Vaccarello understands menswear. He understands the needs of men and I know he would never wear one of those suits!” [Lola701]

“I see I’m outnumbered here, bit I quite enjoyed this actually. I’m a sucker for fluid tailoring and big shoulders in men’s suits and I love the sartorial proposal here. I like how the suiting wardrobe of Yves the man was the starting point.” [Mr-Dale]

“I liked it. Perhaps his strongest menswear showing. The suits, though I’m not a fan of the fit, are still strong and right for the look they’re trying to achieve. There were a lot of options and the wardrobe was dense and not as repetitive as before. Venue is recycled but the clothes saved the day. Great music as always!” [McQ20]

“I really dig this. It just feels mature and sophisticated, which we don’t get that often in menswear these days. I love the Yves clones, great casting.” [Marc10]

The Fall 2024 season of Paris Fashion Week is officially a-go! Tonight, under the nights sky of the French capital, Anthony Vaccarello unveiled his latest creations as creative director of Saint Laurent. Muses of the storied French fashion house, both past and present, were in attendance (including everyone from Catherine Deneuve to Kate Moss and Betty Catroux to Zoë Kravitz). A collection true to Monsieur Saint Laurent himself, Vaccarello offered a lineup of draped sheaths, sharp pencil skirts and blouses in an assortment of rich earthy tones. The Saint Laurent model army wore turbans, with some carrying faux fur coats and killer sky-high stilettos completed the look.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“This is so beautiful I want to SCREAM!” [prylvi]

“The show is stunning! Great presentation and the venue is truly impressive (my architect friends and I are blown away).” [thiago]

“SUBLIME. I want to be a Saint Laurent woman NOW!” [matheus_s]

“In terms of what’s on the table, it’s very, very light, I have to be honest, but I loved it! Everything was very David Lynch, there was a strong sexual tension, the soundtrack was exhilarating and the setting absolutely divine. Anthony really does have great taste and an eye for it, you can’t take that away from him at all.” [GivenchyAddict]

“The palette is beautiful, the individual looks are beautiful, but that is a LOT of sheer fabric… it started feeling very repetitive after a while. Which is a shame because his recent shows have been my favorites for a few seasons in a row now.” [Mr-Dale]

“A let down. I was waiting for some great furs but all I see is semi-naked women.” [Alquimista]

“Probably the most REPETITIVE collection I ever experienced. Not a bad collection, per se, but I felt like re-watching the same looks again, and again, and again.” [IloveDiorHomme]

“Repetitive or not, I get my fashion show wet dreams from this. It’s just so sexy, chic, and mostly expensive looking. The set, the lighting, the casting, the music… EVERYTHING was just on point. It makes me want to go in the shop to check it all out and purchase and that’s the whole point.” [Salvatore]

Everyone loves a flashback, right? Here at theFashionSpot, ahead of us descending upon each fashion capital, we’ve been flashing it back a whole decade to the Fall 2014 season of New York, London, Milan and now Paris Fashion Week.

Just like in the other cities, the fashion landscape was a whole lot different within the French capital. Raf Simons was the creative force behind Christian Dior, Hedi Slimane was heading up Saint Laurent, Riccardo Tisci was still proving every inch his worth at Givenchy and Alexander Wang presented his third mainline collection for Balenciaga while the much-loved Phoebe Philo was still winning us over at Celine.

John Galliano’s eponymous label was a fixture on the PFW schedule (designed by Bill Gaytten), as was Haider Ackermann whose collection showcased the strength of the Colombian-born French designer’s innate design talent and impeccable skill. Anthony Vaccarello’s very own namesake creations were on full display too. The Fall 2014 season also bestowed upon us the late Karl Lagerfeld’s unforgettable supermarket spectacle at Chanel and Sarah Burton’s Alexander McQueen collection felt like a magical and mythological fairytale was coming to life before our very eyes.

Saint Laurent F/W 2020.21 : Freja Beha Erichsen, Laetitia Casta & Debra Shaw by Juergen Teller

Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Fall 2020 collection was a hit on our forums. Now the advertising campaign has dropped. The vast majority of ads for the storied French fashion house under the designer’s tenure have gone over well on our forums. (It helps that they’ve featured everyone from Kate Moss to Mica Argañaraz to Kaia Gerber to Anja Rubik.) Juergen Teller is back as photographer with Vaccarello tapping his muses Freja Beha Erichsen, Laetitia Casta and Debra Shaw as the faces of the bourgeois-inspired collection with the trio striking poses around Paris.

Perhaps a change in photographer is needed for next season. “I don’t understand why Vaccarello insists on booking Teller every season. Vaccarello does beautiful collections, but these campaigns are just so uninspiring,” commented YSL87.

“Only Juergen can make a collection this good look unappealing and cheap,” echoed avonlea002.

“Vaccarello paid the wrong photographer for this campaign,” agreed GivenchyAddict.

Sharing the same sentiment was Salvatore: “So you mean to tell me Vaccarello gave, in my opinion, the best show/collection of Fall 2020 and this is the campaign we get for it?”

“I wish it was just Laetitia — this campaign does Freja no favors. She looks like people should be ringing a hotline to report suspected human trafficking,” noted tigerrouge.

“I actually like this, but Freja just seems so out of place, I can’t help but be annoyed with her shots. Laetitia, on the other hand, is truly selling it for me,” shared Overindulgence.

But not everyone was disappointed by the outcome. “I feel like this just works. The colors pop. This gives me like…the freshness in the air after the rain, love it when Juergen can capture that mood for me,” admired russianelf.

“Love Debra Shaw. Amazing to see her in a YSL campaign!” raved mikel.

Saint Laurent, Appliquéd Cotton-Corduroy Blazer in Black, $3490 at Net-A-Porter

Net-a-Porter has always been a go-to destination for snagging designer wares. And the online shopping mecca has even started tapping numerous brands and influencers for exclusive collections. The latest collab? Net-a-Porter and its companion site Mr Porter have partnered with luxury brand Saint Laurent to produce a women’s line and something for the fellas.

The exclusive Saint Laurent collections feature 29 womenswear pieces and 14 menswear pieces. The fashion house wanted each item to mirror the Saint Laurent spirit by making the pieces a mix of “timeless icons, boyish silhouettes and feminine confidence.”

The collections go back to the brand’s roots with styles and silhouettes from the 60s to the 90s that ooze rock ‘n’ roll. While several pieces are priced in the thousands, there are some must-haves that ring in just below $300. But even at these prices, we’re guessing the lines will sell out pretty quick.

Kaia Gerber’s modeling portfolio doesn’t rival mom Cindy Crawford’s just yet but the 16-year-old is undeniably putting the effort in as she continues to be embraced by the industry. Should we at all be surprised to see Kaia now score a Saint Laurent campaign? After all, she has walked the past two shows and wore one of Anthony Vaccarello’s designs when she landed the cover of Vogue Paris back in February. Kaia’s relationship with the iconic French fashion house is now solidified as Vaccarello makes the Los Angeles native the face of the Fall 2018 collection, photographed by David Sims.

The campaign generated a whole host of mixed feedback from our forum members. “The industry seems hell bent on making this nepotism model a star! Sure, with some of her work she delivers, but for the most part, she looks criminally juvenile. Vaccarello’s campaigns never do his collections any favors. I’m not a fan of the B&W direction. Thought we’d leave that sort of thing behind when Hedi [Slimane] left,” commented Benn98.

“Lol, what sellouts. So juvenile,” laughed HeatherAnne.

“That head wrap is a big no for me,” kenndale pointed out.

In agreement over how questionable the styling looked was forum member Nomar. “It’s okay but the styling just ruins it,” he said.

“She looks like a Gossip Girl character but I’m sort of digging it,” confessed Elite13.

“It’s not groundbreaking or new but I’m digging it. What can I say, I’m a sucker for Vaccarello,” lelaid voiced.

YohjiAddict ultimately like what he saw too, writing, “I love her in this, she does seem to be getting better which comes as a relief knowing she isn’t going anywhere soon.”
