You’re no doubt completely and fully aware that Anthony Vaccarello likes himself some Juergen Teller as Saint Laurent campaign photographer. Vaccarello has called upon the famed German photographer to lens the historic French fashion house’s campaign imagery on umpteen occasions throughout his tenure as creative director. More recently, Teller photographed Chloë Sevigny for the Fall 2024 campaign offering. For the Saint Laurent Winter 2024 installment, Juergen Teller is back to capture a handful of Vaccarello’s muses. Those muses include Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling, Ajus Samuel, Anja Rubik, Binx Walton, Awar Odhiang, and Penelope Ternes. The ladies pose within the surroundings of a stylish Art Deco Parisian brasserie in looks from Vaccarello’s chic Saint Laurent collection unveiled in February during Paris Fashion Week.

Since taking up the mantle as Alaïa creative director in 2021, Pieter Mulier has favored a very select few as Alaïa’s campaign photographers. Those photographers include Willy Vanderperre, Sam Rock, Drew Vickers, and Tyrone Lebon. Lebon made a triumphant return last season to photograph the ultimate Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bündchen under the warm Miami sunshine. The British creative returns for the Summer/Fall 2024 season, with models Vittoria Ceretti, Mona Tougaard, Awar Odhiang and Felice Nova Noordhoff making up the cast. The girls were photographed within plush Parisian hotel room settings throughout the storied campaign (including L’Hôtel Particulier, Le Bristol, L’Hôtel and Hôtel Balzac) – and go completely unretouched.

Subsequent to taking up the mantle as creative director of Saint Laurent in 2016, Anthony Vaccarello has remained faithful to a select rooster of fashion photographers for the brand’s campaigns. Vaccarello’s true tried-and-tested faves have been David Sims and Juergen Teller. However, the Belgian designer often decides to throw us a curveball and enlists the likes of Gray Sorrenti. Vaccarello surprisingly called upon Glen Luchford (who had not shot a Saint Laurent campaign for over 20 years) for the womenswear Winter 2023 campaign offering, and it’s a repeat performance for the menswear Winter 2024 campaign. Luchford’s rather wonderful campaign imagery pays homage to scenes created by masters – from Michelangelo to Édouard Manet. Throughout the stylized campaign, a diverse cast (including Awar Odhiang, Justino Gonzalez, Samuel Elie, Thomas LeMaigre, Vassili Schneider and Zeke Lindsey) lounge around a plush jewel-toned set.

Harper’s Bazaar France stays winning. After all, subsequent to the triumphant relaunch back in March 2023, Olivier Lalanne has impressed us to no end as the magazine’s editor-in-chief. Much to our delight here on theFashionSpot, Lalanne drops models as cover stars on the regular, and blends the more established faces (à la Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell) and newer faces (like Amelia Gray and Karolina Spakowski) with an effortless ease. A quartet of fresh faces cover Bazaar France’s double June/July offering to see us through the summer months. Via the lens of Mario Sorrenti, Angelina Kendall, Awar Odhiang, Devyn Garcia and Ella McCutcheon descend on the Amalfi Coast for the cover shoot. The rising stars within the modeling industry huddle together down on the shoreline in the cover shot, gazing down Sorrenti’s lens and styled by Elodie David Touboul sporting ensembles from Gucci.

Twenty years has passed since Glen Luchford last captured a Saint Laurent campaign but the British fashion photographer and film direction is back, at the request of Vaccarello for Winter 2023. Models Awar Odhiang, Margaux Lion and Bethany Nagy make up the cast of the campaign, who embody Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent with an effortless ease, captured within the walls of a vast underground space which only adds to the drama and fabulosity.

Members of theFashionSpot forums were left in awe upon checking out Saint Laurent’s latest. “For a campaign that barely shows any of the clothes, it still sells the fantasy well,” admired GoldenPetals.

“I like the set. The dark car parking spaces vibes with clothes, it blends very nicely. I didn’t want to see the Eiffel Tower and French buildings as backgrounds again, I love this,” heralded kikigrape.

M Le Magazine du Monde is also one of those publications outdoing Vogue France and their most recent offering dedicated to all-things beauty is a true testament to that fact.
Covering the French weekly supplement dated October 28, 2023 is model Awar Odhiang, as part of the magazine’s endorsement of the ‘new faces’ within the world of modeling. The Canadian beauty born in South Sudan and current face of Saint Laurent flashes her vibrant and energetic smile in the chic black and white David Sims-shot cover photograph. The image is complete with former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt styling Odhiang in a plaid oversized Balenciaga blazer.

Campaigns have transported us to locations across the world including Los Angeles, Italy, Iceland and Paris. For the brand’s Winter 2023 campaign installment, we’re back within the city limits of the French capital and Teller is once again behind the lens. This season sees Vaccarello favorites Freja Beha Erichsen, Awar Odhiang and Sihana Shalaj come together, each captured separately around various locations within the City of Light, while morphing into femme fatales as the quintessential Saint Laurent woman.

The campaign immediately commanded the attention of our forum members. “It’s formulaic but it works…” praised Lola701.
“I like Saint Laurent campaigns. They are cool, and I love the art direction. They rarely disappoint, and follow their brand silhouettes. They also seem to have certain types of models they choose or love to stick to certain models – like Freja Beha Erichsen. Always so chic, strong and feminine,” commented kiwigrape.

The ads have transported us to idyllic locations like Lake Como and the rugged landscape of Iceland. Now Saint Laurent’s Summer 2022 outing whisks us away to Los Angeles. Freja Beha Erichsen, Awar Odhiang, Binx Walton, Loli Bahia and Bethany Nagy become the faces of the season’s chic and high-octane collection posing in front of flashy cars and around a motel.

Once again, a Saint Laurent campaign absolutely enthralled our forum members. “I love it!” exclaimed Urban Stylin.

“I love the colors and the photos against the cars,” wrote guimon.

An Alexander McQueen advertising campaign hasn’t quite taken our fancy since Fall 2019 with Kate Moss. Sarah Burton picked Paolo Roversi to snap last season’s campaign after umpteen ads photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth. Now the brand taps Steven Meisel for Spring 2022 with the legendary lensman and firm forum favorite capturing his first McQueen campaign with a long list of models. Awar Odhiang, Lucia Fairfull, Celina Ralph, Sora Choi, Anok Yai, Arta Gee, Lara Stone, Eny Jaki, Wali Deutsch, Jill Kortleve, Cassie Wong, Fran Summers, Achenrin Madit, Florence Nicholls, Guinevere van Seenus, Modupe Oluwalade and Jennifer Ball are all shot in black and white.

Meisel for McQueen took our forum members by surprise. “Absolutely amazing, a Meisel studio group shoot in his prime form. The cast is also great. What an unexpected and totally welcome surprise,” applauded dontbeadrag.

“Meisel for McQueen? Where was that collaboration 20 years ago?” asked aracic. “This is wonderful, as can be expected. Pure Richard Avedon! Super excited to see Guinevere and Lara working with Steven again, they both look stunning!”

“An obvious Avedon rip-off with a big dash of Calvin Klein and a hint of Versace. But I can’t help but love this,” confessed mikel.

Not everyone was a fan, however. “As much as I am a Meisel stan, this ain’t good. Especially considering last season’s Roversi campaign. This is so lifeless and dull,” described an unforgiving carbon-made.

“I want to like it, but I can’t, it’s too lifeless for my taste,” commented FashionMuseDior.

“Afraid to say I don’t care for this at all,” voiced Summer Day.
