Miuccia Prada still insists on endorsing Zoë Ghertner as Miu Miu’s campaign photographer. After all, the American fashion photographer has been tasked with capturing the brand’s advertising campaign imagery since the Spring 2023 season (with the exception of the Matelassé handbag campaigns starring Gigi Hadid and the recent Summer 2024 offering). Subsequent to shooting the Spring 2024 campaign, Ghertner is back once again, with the unveiling of the Fall 2024 campaign installment. At the very least, Miuccia grants us a change in casting this season, as the celebrated Italian fashion designer welcomes Cara Delevingne, Ethel Cain, Charlotte Cardin, Little Simz, Minnie and Caitlin Soetendal as the faces of the collection. Mrs. Prada’s cast pose throughout the minimalist campaign which “draws on the vocabulary of wardrobe from childhood through maturity, from the masculine to the feminine, the formal to the informal.”

Not everyone, however, was in agreement. “I am positively surprised by Cara’s images. She looks so beautiful and fresh faced. It should be a solo campaign just with her,” reasoned avonlea002.

Photographed by Jorin Koers and styled by Judit Melis, the current face of Stella McCartney is captured on location in London, and crouches down on the pavement against a brick wall, dressed in a faux fur Missoni coat, a Chanel dress and pair of Burberry sandals.

Tonight, stars from the world of fashion, sport and beyond descended upon the historic Place Vendôme, situated within the heart of Paris for Vogue World: Paris.

This year’s traveling fashion extravaganza was an outright celebration and fusion of fashion and sport (ahead of the Paris Olympic Games which commence Friday, July 26). Youth athletic academies from throughout France took part, including gymnastics, tennis, fencing, and break dancing, among others. Said sports were ingeniously paired with the theme of French fashion for every decade since 1924, when the French capital last hosted the Olympic games.

Live performances came from Bad Bunny and Aya Nakamura. Curated by Carine Roitfeld, megawatt fashion from just about every major name in French fashion, including: Balenciaga, Balmain, Chanel, Christian Dior, Jacquemus, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marine Serre, Saint Laurent and more were flaunted by an army of fashion’s finest of fashion models. As models took to the circular runway, around the bronze war memorial column, BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid rode horseback through the parade.

Sustainability has become synonymous with Stella McCartney, ever since she launched her eponymous fashion label back in 2001. From the get-go, McCartney has refused to used leather, feathers, skin or fur in any of her designs – a pretty remarkable feat. The British designer’s Summer 2024 collection is the most sustainable yet, crafted from 95% conscious materials. The recently-unveiled Summer 2024 advertising campaign stars Cara Delevingne, captured on location within South London’s Veolia recycling plant. Throughout the campaign lensed by Harley Weir, Delevingne models McCartney’s latest collection amongst an enormous amount of waste and totes variations of McCartney’s signature handbags – including the Frayme (crafted from a vegan alternative to leather made of apple waste).

That doesn’t mean, however, that girls who aren’t blessed with longer legs can’t still have successful careers. In fact, there are plenty of women who have proved that, although they might not stand as tall as most models, they can still make it–like these 17 top models, all of whom are under 5’9″:

1. Lily-Rose Depp

Lily-Rose Depp may only be 5’3″, but she looms large in Karl Lagerfeld’s mind. The Chanel muse has walked many a tweed-filled runway (Haute Couture Spring 2017, Pre-Fall 2017, Haute Couture Fall 2015) and starred in various beauty and eyewear campaigns for the brand. Depp has already graced a fair number of magazine covers, among them Jalouse, LOVE, V Magazine, Vogue Paris, British Vogue, ELLE France, ELLE Greece and Vanity Fair France. We suppose she has her equally petite, preternaturally beautiful mom to thank.

2. Lottie Moss

Much like her big sister Kate Moss, Lottie Moss has risen within the industry despite being (somewhat) vertically challenged. (Needless to say, the family affiliation didn’t hurt.) The 5’6″ British beauty has fronted campaigns for Topshop, Chanel, Bulgari and RED Valentino. She’s walked the runways of Sonia Rykiel, Topshop Unique and Chanel and graced a handful of covers, the most notable being Vogue Paris’ May 2016 edition, which she shared with fellow genetically #blessed millennial Lucky Blue Smith.

3. Hailey Bieber

Instagirl Hailey Bieber is one of the most visible models of our time thanks (in part) to the 5’7″ blonde’s close friendship with the Jenner and Hadid sisters – and being married to Justin Bieber. Nevertheless, the IMG signee — who’s walked for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung, Elie Saab, Tory Burch, Off-White, Zadig & Voltaire and Tommy Hilfiger — has more than earned her stripes. She has fronted campaigns for Guess, Karl Lagerfeld, Tommy Jeans, Calvin Klein, Versace, Miu Miu, UGG. In June 2022, the American beauty unveiled Rhode – a line of efficacious, intentional skincare essentials.

4. Sofia Richie Grainge

Sofia Richie Grainge (daughter of Lionel Richie) is successfully forged her own identity in the modeling industry and now considered a style icon. The 5’6″, beauty has fronted Complex, Wonderland, Town & Country, walked the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Yeezy and Philipp Plein and appeared in the pages of W, V Magazine, Vogue Japan and Seventeen, among others. 

5. Adwoa Aboah

Freckle-faced Ghanaian-British beauty Adwoa Aboah is a force to be reckoned with. The 5’8″ 24-year-old is a Vogue (and Vogue.com) favorite thanks to her fresh, rebellious personal style. Not that she needed the validation. Aboah has walked nearly every runway of note (Miu Miu, Chanel, Christian Dior, Fenty x Puma, Versace, Fendi, Moschino, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo) and starred in countless high-profile campaigns (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Sephora). In 2017, Aboah jumped to the silver screen as Ghost in the Shell’s Lia.

6. Rose Bertram

Rose Bertram, a 5’7″ bombshell known for her curly mane and killer curves, is a favorite of Sports Illustrated, LOVE, H&M and Jeremy Scott. The IMG signee and Instagirl on the rise has also worked with beauty giant L’Oréal Paris and luxury lingerie retailer Agent Provocateur, among others.

7. Sara Sampaio

As far as Victoria’s Secret Angels go, 5’8″ Sara Sampaio is a bit on the “short” side. Still, Portugal’s most photogenic export is a mainstay on the international catwalks. In 2017, she’s strutted Balmain, Mugler, Elie Saab, Alberta Ferretti, Baja East, Marchesa, Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung and Tommy Hilfiger. Her list of recent campaign appearances is almost as long-winded — Moroccanoil, Victoria’s Secret, Blumarine, Hogan… Oh, and she’s already got Vogue, LOVE and Editorialist features under her belt.  

8. Emily Ratajkowski

You’ve definitely had an eyeful of 5’7″ Emily Ratajkowski — you’ll remember her from 2013’s controversial “Blurred Lines” music video and 2014’s movie adaptation of Gone Girl. But Ratajkowski’s a model first. Her formidable CV includes a turn on Miu Miu’s Fall 2016 runway, a spot in Marc Jacobs’ sprawling Spring 2016 ad campaign and stints on the covers of CR Fashion Book, GQ Spain and British Vogue. Oh, and she’s a firm fave of Donatella Versace.

9. Marisa Miller

Marisa Miller would be a babe no matter her height, which is 5’8″, to be exact. The American fashion model is known best for looking scrumptious in Sports Illustrated and for Victoria’s Secret.

10. Kate Moss

Kate Moss is an industry icon, which is amazing, considering shes’ only 5’7″. But her keen modeling abilities and dangerous, cool-girl vibe we all wish we had have turned her into one of the most successful faces in the world. 

11. Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne‘s height has been reported to be anywhere between 5’7″ and 5’8″. One thing’s for sure, she’s definitely not traditional runway height. Her agent once tried to get her cast in Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 show, but she was cut when Marc Jacobs asked, “Why is that dwarf in there?”

12. Devon Aoki

Devon Aoki is one of the shortest high fashion models out there, and has enjoyed a lot of success through her career. In the late 90s, she became the face of Versace and also posed for Chanel, Kenzo, Moschino, Fendi and many more. How tall is she? Just 5’5″.

13. Camille Rowe

Camille Rowe has landed campaigns with Chloé, Aldo, Dior Homme, H&M and more, as well as multiple covers of ELLE France. She’s also posed for Victoria’s Secret at only 5’7″. Not bad for a “short” girl, right?

14. Lila Moss

After posing alongside her model mother Kate Moss on Vogue Italia’s July 2016 edition, it was only a matter of time before Lila Moss reached superstardom. At 5’3″, Lila has secured campaigns for a whole multitude of fashion houses including Ermanno Scervino, Versace, Marc Jacobs and appeared on the magazine covers of British Vogue, Vogue Japan and Vanity Fair Italia to name a select few.

15. Liberty Ross

Liberty Ross‘ 5’6″ frame certainly was not a problem for Burberry, Emanuel Ungaro or Jimmy Choo–they all chose her to front their campaigns. 

16. Lydia Hearst

While it helps that your family is one of the most powerful in the publishing industry when you’re trying to start a modeling career, Lydia Hearst has had a lot of success–not because of her name. She’s landed campaigns for Juicy Couture, Pringle of Scotland, Swarovski and more. Not to mention the sizeable amount of print work she’s done for international versions of Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle and more. The 5’7″ Hearst has been so successful, that she was chosen to be a mentor for season 2 of Naomi Campbell’s modeling reality competition, The Face.

17. Laetitia Casta

Laetitia Casta has had a tremendously successful career in spite of her 5’6″ height. The credits are as far as the eye can see: A contract with L’Oréal Paris, a stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, covers of Vogue, ELLE, i-D as well as jobs modeling for Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood and countless others.

The fashion titles tend to bring out the big guns when it comes to the unveiling of their all-important September 2023 covers, and British ELLE is doing just that. Give it up for Cara Delevingne who fronts the mag’s biggest fashion offering of the year, captured hanging high above the streets of New York City in cover number one (below) and serving nothing but face in the second alternative cover (after the jump). The now three-time British ELLE cover girl posed for photographer Quentin Jones for the occasion and is dressed by stylist Aurelia Donaldson in head-to-toe Christian Dior (to which the Brit model-turned-actress is brand ambassador).

Members of our forums, however, weren’t so smitten with the end result. “Did a magazine editor really think putting ‘Cancel This’ as a cover-line was smart? Yeah, ‘cancel this’ subscription…” blueorchid voiced.
“Not the best,” admitted a far from impressed 8eight.
“I just can’t stop laughing looking at this. It’s all way too forced and obvious with those open boots,” critiqued VERNIQUE.
Also not exactly bawled over with excitement was Drusilla_ echoing: “That first cover could’ve almost worked if Cara didn’t look half-asleep while hanging from a bar with one leg in the air!”
Yet not everyone was so quick to voice their disapproval. “I don’t mind the first cover. It does have that 90s Peter Lindbergh vibe though Cara’s face is dead in the shot and she is not giving any energy. Also the taglines on both covers aren’t it,” Urban Stylin stipulated.
“I do feel somewhat compelled to tolerate this!” confessed vogue28. “Not the worst duo of covers I’ve came across, but would’ve much preferred a little more… joy and aspiration for September as opposed to an expressionless Cara Delevingne photographed hanging in a grunge-looking getup, with a gloomy New York in the background.”

We’re starting to lose count of the amount of barriers Edward Enninful has broken down at British Vogue. From giving the magazine’s front cover to models who are refashioning the face of the industry to embracing forces of change, he sure knows how to make a difference. Now for August 2022, the British fashion bible celebrates Pride by featuring 12 “revolutionary” faces of the LGBTQ+ community. The lineup includes Cara Delevingne, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana DeBose, Jordan Barrett, Munroe Bergdorf, Sheerah Ravindren, Cameron Lee Phan, Aweng Chuol, Nathan Westling, Valentina Sampaio, Gottmik and Kai-Isaiah Jamal shot by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Members of our forums aren’t impressed, though. “It is like that horrendous collage W cover…” declared MagFan the moment the cover dropped.

“I don’t get why the right group is so separated from the rest on the cover,” critiqued mikel.

“It looks like a press shot for the latest series of Big Brother,” 8eight pointed out.

“Sadly, this looks terrible. This falls flat and is a complete letdown coming from Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The group is disjointed and completely random and it indeed looks like supplement material… It could’ve been so much better!” exclaimed aracic.

“Wow, the closer I look at the photo the worse it gets in terms of Photoshop. Can they still not manage basic editing in 2022?” asked annikad.

“Pretty bad when a Vogue cover looks like a rudimentary catalog spread for the local department store,” added dfl-001.

“It looks like a Gap campaign,” JoCaderone chimed in.

After skipping 2020 and scaling back for 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival is back in full force. Which is great for us since it usually produces fashion moments on par with the Met Gala and the Oscars. Although we have to admit, a decent amount of looks were relatively lackluster.

When it comes to designers, certain ones reigned supreme. We witnessed several dresses from Valentino’s Fall 2022 offering, aka the pink collection, take to the red carpet. Sharon Stone stuck with Dolce & Gabbana probably because she stars in the Italian fashion house’s new handbag campaign. As usual, there were plenty of haute couture looks to go around. Fendi, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Chanel are just a small sampling. Custom creations were also trending with Cara Delevingne’s revealing Balmain gown one of the standouts.

The jewelry was also something to behold. Especially when it came to necklaces. Julianne Moore’s Bottega Veneta dress was amplified by Bulgari’s Eden The Garden of Wonders necklace, for example.

On the beauty front, hair really turned heads. Bella Hadid’s wet-look hairdo with sculpted strands in the middle of her forehead really made a statement. As did Grace Elizabeth’s piecey pixie.

The publication even bestowed upon us a model cover last month (starring Karen Elson) and drops another one for March 2022. Cara Delevingne fronts Bazaar‘s latest going back to the swinging 60s via a pair of covers. Captured by Pamela Hanson with styling from Leith Clark, the Brit supermodel, actress and Christian Dior brand ambassador sports looks from the legendary French fashion house’s retro-inspired Spring 2022 collection on the newsstand cover (below) and the subscribers’ alternative (after the jump).

The covers instantly ignited debate. “Oh, I absolutely adore this!” proclaimed MON.

“Love this,” said liberty33r1b.

“Feels like a breath of fresh air after Karen Elson’s heavy and autumn-like cover from last month! Here for Lydia Slater’s model covers of late and despite this feeling like a backstage shot at a fashion show, I like it. The colors are lovely…” admired vogue28.

“She looks stunning, you can’t deny she has a gorgeous face,” FashionMuseDior pointed out.

Although not everyone was impressed. “When I read Pamela Hanson, I expected something more thrilling than this,” wrote penny609.

“Cara used to be a strong print model, but this just looks like amateur hour,” added Urban Stylin.

“This does nothing for me…” confessed aracic.

“There is so much potential wasted here. Cara deserves better. That said, I am ridiculously happy to see her regardless of the outcome,” admitted Horizontina.
